St. Timothy’s School
Stevenson, MD USA
Randy S. Stevens, Head

St. Timothy’s enrolls girls with energy, character and high potential and builds in them the capability, confidence and integrity to compete and contribute effectively throughout their lives. St. Tim’s provides girls a challenging college-preparatory curriculum and extensive individual attention. St. Timothy's School aims to provide an academic experience that teaches girls to become motivated scholars and independent thinkers with a lifelong love of learning.

The curriculum at St. Timothy’s School is based on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB). Created in 1968, the IB is a demanding pre-university course of study that leads to examinations; it is designed for highly motivated students ages 16 to 19. The program has earned a reputation for rigorous assessment, giving IB diploma holders access to the world's leading universities. To earn an official IB diploma that is recognized worldwide, students will follow a two-year IB Diploma Program during their junior and senior years that includes prescribed coursework, culminating assessments, and designated special projects. The goal of the IB is to provide students with the values and opportunities that will enable them to develop sound judgment, to make wise choices, and to respect others in the global community. The program has the strengths of a traditional liberal arts curriculum, but with three important additional features: Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS).

St. Timothy’s expansive campus includes an equestrian center, a 350-seat theatre, a performing and visual arts center, a dance studio, athletic fields, tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, and two science labs. Our beautiful rural campus is only 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore and the Inner Harbor, 45 minutes from Annapolis, and 1 hour from Washington, DC. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is approximately 20 minutes from the School.

The St. Tim’s campus is fully networked; all students have personal e-mail accounts and access to the Internet. The Center for Learning and Instruction (CLI) is run by a full-time learning specialist, whose primary function is to assist students with their overall academic performance, study skills, paper writing skills, and organization.
