Caxton College was founded in 1987 by the Gil-Marqués family to provide Valencia with a school for the children of local and foreign families wishing to study the British National Curriculum in an international environment. Our school is only 18 km north of Valencia, a city that combines history and culture with the tradition and the contemporary. An ideal place to live, work and study.

The education system at Caxton College promotes a “whole child” approach. Therefore a fundamental part of the learning process is the combination of sporting, cultural, artistic and craft activities which develop personal qualities and interests enabling students to learn how to make the most of their leisure time. An understanding and sound knowledge of both Spanish and English cultures is considered a fundamental facet in the education of our students. We pursue an experimental methodology that focuses on the child’s natural desire to learn. We aim to awaken the pupils’ curiosity and interest in their surroundings, encouraging them to learn how to learn.

We see education as a joint task between teachers, parents and pupils. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the fact that parents are the most important educators of their children. Therefore, we encourage parents to develop their role as educators through criteria in line with the educational beliefs of the school. We aim to provide pupils with the skills necessary to form independent opinions enabling them to make personal decisions in response to situations which will arise in their lives. These skills will help them to learn to use all the information on hand and to use their judgement.

One aim of our co-educational system is to promote mutual and self respect between both sexes.

  • The learning of foreign languages diversifies and makes the thought processes more flexible thus strengthening the intelligence structure. It also facilitates the learning of a third language.
  • Students in multilingual environments learn to be respectful to those of other cultures as whilst learning the language the student also learns about different life styles and different ways of thinking.
  • It is the ideal education for parents who for professional reasons frequently move to different countries as they the education programmes in bilingual schools are usually compatible around the world.

The boarding school offers pupils the opportunity of a unique, enriching experience. At Caxton College pupils have the possibility of boarding from one month to a full academic year.
